02-14-06 Track Lines and A Snag

I set up a work area to start drawing the track centerlines on to the new modules.

I moved the modules into the room where they will eventually sit as a finished layout.  I set up a couple sawhorses so I could comfortably work on them.  This picture shows the largest module ready for me to draw the track centerlines.  I mounted a drafting arm to the side of the module to aid me.  The rulers attached to the arm will remain at the same angle, no matter where I move them.

For this stage of construction, I need to transfer the track lines from my design software to the module surface.  I need to draw every straight line, curve, and turnout.  I also need to check clearances between tracks and buildings.  I will use these lines later when I glue down the cork roadbed and track.

I had just barely started this when I ran into a snag.  I discovered the turnout templates in my design software does not match the turnout templates printed in a book I have.  I decided to order my track and turnouts earlier than I planed.  I need to see which template is correct.  If the ones in my software are incorrect, I will have to create new ones and edit my track plan accordingly.
