01-04-06 Module Framing
It ended up taking two days to build the modules. As the framing diagram shows, the expanded layout consists of four modules. The two corner module are the same shape. The two rectangular modules are only different by one foot in length.
02-14-06 Track Lines and A Snag
I set up a work area to start drawing the track centerlines on to the new modules
04-09-06 Back To Work
After waiting over two months, I received my track order. The last couple times I have ordered from this company my order was promptly shipped. I guess I should have bought the track locally. Now I can get back to work.
05-29-06 Turnout Templates and Curves
I scanned in the turnouts as previously discussed. I imported them in to the track design software to compare them to the templates I was using.
06-15-06 Track Lines Completed
The track centerlines have been transferred to the last two modules.
06-24-06 Roadbed
The roadbed for the track has been laid. This part went quicker than I thought.
07-04-06 Trackwork Done On Two Modules
I used Peco flex track and turnouts. I used code 55 rail which will easily match the code 55 track on the original NTrak module.
07-10-06 Trackwork Completed
The track has been laid on the final two modules.
07-23-06 Electrical
After a few days of work the electrical system has been installed on all four modules.
07-30-06 Up and Running
After years of planning and many months of construction, the layout is up and running.
12-23-06 No Time For Trains
My free time to work on the layout lately has been eaten up by various projects and obligations. I am hoping to have more time to work on the layout towards the end of January. I have worked on a few things since the last update.
